Some shameless self-promotion: I was a guest again on WGAU in Athens with Tim Bryant. We talked about TSPLOST and Ethics Reform. You can listen here. I come on about 15 minutes into the program.
It seems TSPLOST will fail across much (if not all) of Georgia. We better be thinking about “plan B.” As for the proposed $100 gift cap, I repeated what I’ve said before: A gift cap won’t change how much money lobbyists spend and in fact I believe that if we pass a gift cap, when the public sees no change they will be angry, or perhaps angrier than they are now. What’s needed is real reform, and better enforcement of existing law. Today the House Ethics Committee released their review and found 49 House candidates in violation of current disclosure law. These candidates also signed the gift cap pledge.
