Campaign Update 11/30/17

Campaign Update

Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

We have traveled across the state, meeting great people and learning more about the issues facing all Georgians. This past week, we had the chance to travel to Newton County and Barrow County to speak to the Newton County Republican Party and the Barrow County Republican Party. I talked about my vision for the Secretary of State office, including a plan for new voting machines with a paper backup and a post-election quality assurance system to ensure all votes are counted accurately.

A couple of weeks ago, while we were in Muscogee County, I had the opportunity to testify in front of the House Commission on Transit Governance & Funding, where I discussed a bill I introduced two years ago that would allow for the creation of self-taxing zones around transit stops. The funds would be used to expand rail.  I recently spoke to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the idea.

At the Georgia-Georgia Tech game with a few colleagues and friends Rep. Geoff Duncan (also a candidate for Lt. Governor), Rep. Bert Reeves, and Rep. Wes Cantrell. The game didn’t go Tech’s way, but I’m always glad to be back on campus. Congratulation to the Dawgs on the win, and good luck this weekend in the SEC Championship.
