About Buzz

Buzz Brockway is the representative for the 102nd District in Gwinnett County which covers parts of Lawrenceville and Suwanee. He has lived in Lawrenceville since 1976. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1990 with a Bachelors of Science in Management Science with a certificate in Economics. He worked as an operations manager in the plastics manufacturing industry for over 20 years before he and his wife started their own business in 2005.

Buzz has been active in Gwinnett County politics since 1997 and has held many offices in the Gwinnett Republican Party. He started as a Precinct Captain, then advanced to District Manager, Second Vice-Chairman and from 2002 – 2005 served as Chairman.

He graduated from Coverdell Leadership Institute (now known as Republican Leadership for Georgia) in 2001. In 2003 Buzz was selected to be on the GOPAC Executive Committee of County Chairman. He volunteered for the G8 summit held at Sea Island in 2004. After his term as Chairman, Buzz served as Gwinnett Chairman for Governor Sonny Perdue’s reelection campaign in 2006. In 2007, he ran unsuccessfully for the First Vice Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. That same year, Georgia State Party Chairman Sue Everhart appointed him to the Technology Committee. Buzz knows the power technology can play in fostering positive political discourse.

Buzz has also managed successful campaigns for Former State Representative Melvin Everson, State Representatives David Casas and Josh Clark, and Former County Commissioner Mike Beaudreau.

While Buzz was chairman of the Gwinnett Republican Party, he was often asked to write articles for newspapers and online publications. During this time he developed a passion for writing. In October of 2005, Buzz was invited by Erick Erickson to write for a political discussion website he was starting called Peach Pundit, then the leading political discussion website in Georgia. Buzz held the position of Assistant Editor at Peach Pundit until October of 2015.

In 1993 he married Christa and they have 3 daughters, Elizabeth Hope, Grace Kathryn and Emily Joy. They attend Victory @ Hamilton Mill Church in Buford. Buzz has always been active in his Church and is currently on the offering counting team, greeting team, and along with Christa, leads a Married Life small group. He currently serves on the Board of Life Renewed, a nonprofit organization which helps veterans.

Since he was elected to the legislature in 2010, he has worked on legislation to fight human trafficking, reform election law, protect student data privacy, and allow college students to protect themselves with stun guns on campus.
